THOMAS 1870 PATENT 'SOLID SELF-LOCKING VERTICAL GRIP' ROTATING-BOLT SINGLE-BITE SNAP-ACTION TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 5051 circa 1880, serial number on under rib only, 30in. black powder only damascus barrels, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke both, some pitting, Thomas patent action, patent no. 324 of February 4th, 1870, carved percussion fences with button strikers, rebounding back-action locks, fine acanthus scroll engraving with crosshatch bordering, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 5/8in. refinished stock including horn buttplate, fore-end with lever release, weight 6lb. 14oz.
